New Caledonia, a small slice of France located in the South Pacific Ocean, is just 2.5 hours by plane from Brisbane, Australia. With pristine beaches and fabulous food it was the perfect short holiday destination.
Noumea has a strong French flavour and all of the food that the French do so well – cured meats, cheese, bread, pastry, desserts and ice cream. Vegetarians seeking more than salade verte and frites may be slightly disappointed by the savoury food options however the desserts certainly make up for it! I’ve come back with a few new ideas for some desserts and I am looking forward to sharing them with you. In the meantime, just a few photos:
