Do you sometimes just need a chocolate fix but simply can’t be bothered with all the faff involved with baking? Well this dessert is for you! It only takes five minutes – and that’s not five minutes prep time that’s five minutes from start to eating!
All this pudding requires is a quick mix of a few pantry ingredients followed by a quick blast in the microwave. I will confess to having had a bit of snobbery regarding microwave cooking but this recipe proves that a microwave is for more than just for re-heating leftovers.
This chocolate pudding is rich, decadent, luscious, and good enough to impress on date night. I hope you enjoy it!
5 Minute Miracle Self-Sauced Chocolate Pudding
serves 2
Sauce
2 tbsp cocoa
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
4 tbsp water
Cake
3 tbsp cocoa
3 tbsp dark brown sugar
6 tbsp plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp chocolate chips
pinch of salt
splash of vanilla
3 tbsp vegetable oil
3 tbsp water
Mix together in a bowl the three sauce ingredients. Divide evenly between two small microwave-proof bowls; set aside
Mix together the cake ingredients. Spoon the cake batter into the bowls on top of the sauce.
Place in the microwave and cook on High for 80 seconds. This cooking time is based on my microwave which is a Sharp Carousel 1100w. You may need to adjust the cooking time for your microwave.
Garnish with strawberries and a dusting of icing (powdered) sugar. Add some ice-cream or cream if you are feeling especially indulgent!
wowzers! perfect dessert in no time at all – what’s not to love?!
It’s dangerous!!
Love this. I’m a bit of a sucker for a microwave mug cake/ pud too!
Oh in living this quick chocolate pudding, who wouldn’t like this. Thanks for sharing.

Yum that looks great, nothing better than fast and chocolate in the same sentence. I haven’t made a self saucing pud for years, must have a go.
I hope you do try it – it’s so delicious! Let me know how it goes!
Any dessert that has miracle in the name should be made by everyone. What a lovely ending to any meal.
Happy New Year, Stephanie and that’s for the culinary journey you’ve taken us on!
Thanks so much for all of your kind words! Happy New Year to you too!!
This is definitely more of a cake consistency , not pudding, and it’s almost too chocolately for my liking. And I DP love chocolate lol easy to make but too rich unfortunately.
Amazing! I make a mug dessert for my partner also every day! This is the best microwave dessert I’ve tried yet 🙂 good job
