These certainly don’t look like much on the plate but they are delicious – dangerously delicious!
A Fronut – and you’re reading about it here first – is the lovechild of French toast and a jam-filled doughnut. Fronuts are so simple to make – just a jam sandwich cooked like French toast and then rolled in cinnamon sugar. To be able to so easily make such a delicious treat which tastes just like a jam-filled doughnut is dangerous knowledge indeed. This will ruin your diet for ever.

I have a weakness for jam-filled doughnuts so I preferred the raspberry jam filling but the Nutella was amazing too!
1 tbsp milk
8 slices bread
8 tsp raspberry jam or Nutella
1/2 cup caster sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
Butter and/or oil for pan frying
Preheat a frypan on a medium heat.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together on a large plate; set aside.
Prepare the eggy batter by beating together the eggs and milk in a wide dish. This amount of batter will make at least four fronuts. You may have enough for one or two extra depending on the bread you use.
Cut the bread into rounds using a large round cookie cutter (or simply trim the crusts off with a knife if you prefer).
Set out four pieces of the bread and place two teaspoons of your preferred filling in the middle of each piece of bread. Lay a piece of bread on top and gently press around the edges.
Place some butter and/or oil in the frypan.
Taking one at a time, dip both sides of the jam sandwich into the eggy batter and place in the heated frypan. Cook both sides until golden brown. Remove from the pan and toss in the cinnamon sugar. Repeat.
Serve and enjoy immediately.
