Salted Caramel Popcorn Pretzel Cups

Caramel Popcorn Pretzel Cups
One of the benefits of motherhood has been being able to create (and then indulge in) fun children’s party food, all the while pretending that you only made it for the children. Caramel popcorn has always been one of my favourites and it is surprisingly easy to make. It’s a party starter for sure!

Serving the caramel popcorn in the ice cream cones is a great option for parties. It doesn’t only look cute but it is practical too; stops fingers from getting sticky.

I made this party food as my contribution to the fun and fabulous Fiesta Friday hosted by The Novice Gardener. I’m new to the party and I don’t know anyone except the hostess but I’m sure I’ll have a great time!

adapted from Taste
Caramel Popcorn Pretzel Cups
125g butter
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tbsp honey
3 cups popped popcorn
1 cup mini pretzels
10 small flat bottom ice cream cones

Place the butter, sugar and honey in a large saucepan and heat over a medium heat. Cook, and stir as it heats to combine all ingredients, and bring to the boil. Continue to boil for 5-8 minutes or until it looks lightly golden. Remove from the stove. Stir in pretzels and popcorn ensuring all pieces are evenly coated. Spoon the mix into the ice cream cones. Work quickly but be careful as it is very hot! There is enough mix and enough time to fill 10 small cones. Place on a tray or rack to cool.

  1. Yay, Stephanie, you made it finally! We’re going to change that for you, about not knowing anybody else at the party. You’ll see. 🙂 The cups look adorable, so perfect for a party! My daughter would love these. Hmm…maybe a mom & daughter weekend project to do?

  2. Hi Stephanie – welcome to Fiesta Friday! Sorry I didn’t introduce myself earlier, but I got stuck over at the cocktail table, catering to the needs of our very thirsty guests 😀 I am Julianna and I’m one of the co-hosts and it’s so good to meet you! Your salted caramel treat looks so delicious, I can’t wait to try some. In the meantime, can I get you a drink or anything else? Let me introduce you to some of these lovely bloggers…:-)
