Top of the morning to you!
Today I am sharing with you a deliciously refreshing, and rather alcoholic, drink to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Based on the traditional Irish Coffee this drink is chilled but also packs an extra punch with the addition of coffee liqueur. There are a few different coffee liqueurs to choose from, with Kahlua and Tia Maria being the most well known, but I opted for Patron XO Café. I have only just discovered Patron XO Café and I can’t get enough of it. It is a tequila based liqueur which is beautifully flavoured with lovely caramel notes, not too sweet and deliciously smooth.
If this drink is a little to strong for your taste feel free to substitute the coffee liqueur with the same amount of chilled espresso coffee.

Iced Irish Coffee
60ml Coffee Liqueur (I used Patron XO Café)
2 scoop vanilla ice cream
whipped cream
cocoa
Place the whiskey, coffee liqueur and ice cream in a blender and blitz until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa. Enjoy!
Great idea . Id like a big one of these right now
Thank you!
Ohhhh! I’ve never been a coffee drinker but I love coffee flavoured things (especially when ice cream and whiskey are involved ;D)
Yes, ice cream makes everything better!
Looks wonderful!!
Thank you Ann and Chris!
This looks utterly wicked. Heaven.
Thank you! Yes, it is very wicked!!
Love the sound of that liqueur. Will have to track it down. I used to be quite partial to an ice coffee but haven’t had one for ages. That situation may need to change 🙂
Thanks Tania! I hope you try it!
Definitely one to try!
